We all wish to have a tidy, well-kept closet like those beautiful photos that we see in magazines or on social media of celebrity wardrobes. And though, we all try to keep it neat and tidy, but at times it looks that to keep and arrange the closet neatly and nicely is a big thing to do and many of us get bored to do it and just throw our stuff in the closet anywhere we want and as a result, make our closets messy.
But in our opinion, it is essential to organize the closet neatly, cause a well-organized closet will help in keeping our stuff safe and thus increase the lifespan of the items. And it also saves us a lot of time and money resulting in peace of mind.
So, if your closet is jam-packed and completely full of clothes and other stuff then you definitely need to do something. Let’s get jumped to the point how you can organize your closet even if you have lots of stuff.
Empty & clean the closet
The first thing you need to do is put away everything from your closet. Then clean your closet thoroughly and if it needs paint or polish, just do it. In case you are using a wooden wardrobe, inspect it properly for any termite infestation and if there are any signs of it, get the wardrobe treated by a professional.
Categorize, minimalize & then purge
Separate each item into categories, with piles for each type of items, such as pants, skirts, blouses, shirts, shoes, jewelry, etc.
Do you guys know that most of us use or wear only 20% of the items in our closet in the 80% of the time? Yes, it happens with all of us. Once you have categorized everything have a look at all the items and see which ones you want and which ones you don’t want. Then just cut off those items from your closet, which you no longer wish to use anymore. If the item is in usable condition donate it else discard it.
Also, check out any of the items that have rips, holes and stains or yellowing or those that are too big or too small just pop them in the trash. Nobody wants them and they just are a bunch of clutter.
Use the hangers
Many of us prefer to fold the clothes and keep it in the closet. But this method can mess up your closet even quickly as you pick up any clothes. That is why using the hangers is a most helpful process to organize your wardrobe neatly and nicely. Moreover, it helps to get rid of folding stains and yellowish stains from the clothes.
Hang clothes in category not in color
Organizing by color looks good but it’s not that helpful. Organizing by the category helps you to easily get to a section and find the items that you want easily and quickly without messing up your closet. So, firstly organize by category, and within each category, organize by color.
Hang your pants on the pull-out bars or use specialized hangers
Well, its kind an optional to hang your pants on the pulled out bars or hang them or to fold it and keep them in the corner of your wardrobe. If you do not have pull-out bars on your closet, then you can hang it on the hangers with your clothes or you can keep it by folding.
But we here recommend using specialized hangers that are slim and open, these hangers easily “file” away pants in your closet. The design also makes clothing easier to access.
Use drawers
To keep your undergarments and organize them properly you can use your wardrobe drawer. The undergarments get messed up like crazy. So, in order to organize them properly place shoe boxes inside the drawer and then place the items inside those boxes.
Stack clothes side-by-side in drawers
Rather than hiding your clothes by stacking folded clothes on top of each other stack them vertically side by side next to each other. That way you can see the top of every item and can thus access them easily.
Use hooks to hang scarf, belt, etc.
Use the hooks in your closet to hang out your scarves or your stylish belts. It will be easy for you to pick up those items quickly whenever you go out.
Hopefully, these steps will help you out to keep your wardrobe/closet neat and well organized with easy access to the stuff you need.
