Travelling is like your workout routine. You need the money, time, and passion to sustain such a hobby.
Oftentimes you would hear the typical not able to work out excuse when someone has been from a staycation or travel abroad. Sometimes, it isn’t the lack of access to training facilities and healthy food but just plain reasons.
With that, here are 5 ways you can stay fit while travelling:
Balancing your food-activity ratio
Ever heard of the fad diet plan called “Intermittent Fasting”? Well, you can adapt that same thing in a different context.
For a traveler, the scheduling for the Deficit System will depend on the nature of your trip. Not all travelers have the same intent.
For those on vacation, feast all those specialties and delicacies while you are out, which will practically be the daytimes of your itinerary. This is because you practically burn what you eat with all those walks, climbs, and picture taking.
For those on a business trip, it is best to limit your food intake in close proximity to the business functions you have to attend to. Just like a pro-rated salary, it should be “no work, no eat”.
Research on a local exercise spot
It doesn’t always have to be a gym. It can be a Yoga studio or one of those public Zumba classes they conduct in a park.
The only reason you won’t be able to find time to workout is if the purpose of your trip will eat up the entire 24 hours of your day but if it won’t, there’s no reason for you not to find time to work out.
Hotels often have a fitness center for those to wish to kick in an extra sweat. For those with a limited budget, however, there are a whole lot of other ways to work out.
Calisthenics
The basics are always there for anyone to do. Even without the time and money, all you need is enough space wherever room you are in.
Push ups, pull ups, sit ups, and stationary squats are the go-to for even fitness professionals when they want to kick in that extra pump. These four exercises do not necessarily have to come in a specific number of sets and reps.
What is important is that your body gets some exercise done.
Cardio
It is funny to think that for some, the only cardio workout they consider is the one done on a treadmill or a stationary bike at their local gym. It is highly recommended to get a feel of the city you are in by jogging around it.
It is even better when you are on an outdoor vacation as you get the feel of nature’s breeze on that morning run. What makes this morning routine become so boring is when you get accustomed to the path you are running on (especially when on a treadmill) but if you are presented with a different environment and condition, that is where the thrill of the exercise starts.
Partner system
How many times have we lost the motivation to go to the gym when your gym buddy decides to pass? Having to work out alone may not be a problem for a motivated individual but the situation suddenly becomes different when you are in the luxury of travel.
If you are travelling with somebody, invite them to join you in your exercise. It should not be a problem especially if you both have the same itinerary.
If you travel alone, this might be your chance to meet new friends through a common interest, right?
